Amber (oriental)
Warm fragrances of resins, balsams, vanilla and spice. The older label “oriental” is now often replaced by “amber”.
Spice or citrus on top, flowers or spice in the heart, the amber accord (labdanum, benzoin, vanilla) and woods in the base.
Also known as: ambrés (orientaux) / amber
“Amber” in the family name means neither fossil amber nor whale ambergris, but the amber accord – a blend of warm resins and balsams. See the amber entry in the Note Atlas for details.
The French Société Française des Parfumeurs lists the family as ambrés (ou orientaux); Michael Edwards’ system calls it Amber.
