Fragrances by occasion
The occasion mainly decides how much fragrance is appropriate and how close to the body it should stay. The direction of the scent is a secondary question.
-
Work and shared spaces
A fragrance should stay within your own personal space. Choose a lighter form or fewer sprays, and clean, musky or fresh directions. Some workplaces – healthcare settings especially – ask people not to wear fragrance; respect that.
-
Evenings and special occasions
Room for denser, warmer and darker fragrances. Amber, gourmand and woody families open more slowly in the cool of the evening and last longer.
-
Sport and hot days
Sweat and heat amplify a fragrance. Light citrus and aromatic fragrances work best – or none at all.
-
Travel and small spaces
On a plane, in a car or a lift, you share the air with others. One spray close to the skin is enough.
-
A meeting where first impressions count
Choose a fragrance you know and feel good in. Do not try something new on the day itself – you cannot tell in advance how it will develop on you.
